Michigan woman killed in crash following winter snow storm

PRAIRIEVILLE, Mich. (AP) - Michigan authorities say that a winter storm that dumped up to 14 inches of snow on Michigan's Lower Peninsula has claimed at least one life, a 42-year-old woman killed when the vehicle in which she was a passenger spun out of control and struck a tree.

Police in Barry County's Prairieville Township say the crash happened about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Prairieville is about 35 miles south-southeast of Grand Rapids.

According to reports, a 36-year-old man was driving when he lost control on the snowy road.

Police say the woman was pinned inside the vehicle and died at the scene.

The man sustained minor injuries and was arrested on a charge of driving on suspended license causing death.

The names of the man and woman weren't released.
