Dog looking for love after 8 years in shelters

Mishka, an Australian Cattle Dog mix, has been living in shelters for most of her life, nearly 8 years. And volunteers at the Friends of Michigan Animal Rescue in Belleville asked us to tell her story in hopes that Mishka will finally find her happily ever after.

The first shelter Mishka was in had to close down, but, thankfully, the non-profit rescue was able to take her in and now they're hoping someone can offer Mishka a loving home so she can experience what it's like to cuddle on a couch with someone, ride in a car, and be someone's best friend.

Over the years, shelter volunteers have wanted to adopt Mishka themselves, but she needs to be an only pet. Mishka loves people, including children, but she isn't fond of other dogs or cats in her space.

"We want them to love her like we do," said Geraldine Peters, a longtime volunteer with Friends of Michigan Animal Rescue.

And if you're interested in adopting Mishka, shelter volunteers encourage you to make an appointment and fill out an application online at friendsofmichigan.org.
