ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Ann Arbor School District continues to take disciplinary action against students and coaches involved in a fight after the football game between Pioneer and Huron High School last Friday night.
District spokesperson Liz Margolis tells 7 Action News that Pioneer head coach Paul Test and Huron head coach Cory Gildersleeve are suspended for two games each. The final regular season game is this Friday. For Gildersleeve, his suspension will go into the first game of next year. For Test, his suspension will include the first game of the playoffs.
An assistant part-time coach at Pioneer has been fired.
Margolis says school officials have reviewed video of the fight and talked with players and coaches. She says both coaches admit to having a verbal exchange and both have given apologies to their schools over the intercom system. Margolis says the assistant coach from Pioneer shoved the Huron coach and that's why he was fired.
Disciplinary action against players and other students is still pending. Margolis says suspensions or other action will not be released to the public because of privacy rules.
