Police are on the hunt for the person or people responsible for killing a homeless man and leaving him on the side of the road.

Fifty-six year old Christopher Smith lived at a homeless shelter on Detroit's west side.

Police say during the early morning hours of February 4th his life would end, and their investigation into what happened would begin.

He was found on Sylvester and Helen on the city's east side by a couple walking in the area.

Detectives say Smith didn't have a criminal past, and they don't have much to go on right now.

What they do know is they need to get the killer off the streets.

If you have any information about this crime, you’re urged to call the Detroit Police's Homicide Tip Line at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

Detectives say not tip is too small.
