DETROIT (WXYZ) - The question of whether Semeria Greene is competent to stand trial in the stabbing death of her 8-year-old daughter sparked a heated exchanged between her defense attorney, Cornelius Pitts, and a witness for the prosecution.
"It was perfectly clear that Ms. Greene is not mentally retarded," testified Dr. Charles Clark.
Pitts fired back, pointing out that after being questioned by police, Greene asked one of the investigators if she could go home. Pitts said that doesn't sound like a person who believes they've done anything wrong.
Clark disagreed with another forensic psychologist who found Green to be incompetent to stand trial.
Greene's daughter, Tameria, was fatally stabbed on Dec. 30. The girl's 4-year-old brother told authorities that he witnessed it.
