Devon Glass was a 26-year-old loving father of two. Now, many asking why his life came to a tragic end in police custody. Friends say Glass was involved in a fight Wednesday night at Touch of Class nightclub on Visker Rd.

But, he was still alive when police arrived. 7 Action News has learned both Ecorse and River Rouge police were on scene. Relatives say Glass complained he was hurt and needed to go to the hospital, but River Rouge cops instead took him to their police station where he died.

Now, Michigan State Police are conducting an independent investigation to determine what happened, while River Rouge a police are not commenting. Attorney Wolfgang Mueller who handles many misconduct cases says there's no reason for this untimely death, if Glass was in police custody.

"When you're in police custody and entrusted in their care, you have a right and expectation to be safe. There are medical concerns and the place to take you is not the jail, it's the hospital" says Mueller.
