DETROIT (AP) - UPDATE: 7 Action News has learned that the jury has reached a verdict in the trial of Theodore Wafer, the man who shot Renisha McBride on his porch last year.
Previous Associated Press Story:
Jurors are returning for their first full day of deliberations in the trial of a Detroit-area man who argued self-defense in the fatal shooting of an unarmed woman on his porch.
The jury met for about three hours Wednesday after hearing closing remarks from prosecutors and a lawyer for Theodore Wafer. Jurors are returning Thursday to Wayne County court.
The 55-year-old Wafer is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. He fired his shotgun through a screen door, killing 19-year-old Renisha McBride before dawn on Nov. 2.
Wafer says he felt terrorized after a series of loud poundings at two doors. But prosecutors say he had other options, including a call to police.
McBride was drunk and had crashed her car hours earlier about a half-mile away.
