(WXYZ) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Office announced today that one of their K-9 members, Maxx, has passed away.
The 5-year-old Belgian Malinoi was assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Team, and the sheriff's office credits Maxx with uncovering large quantities of drugs while in his role with the department.
Maxx passed away from natural causes.
“Maxx was a natural at finding and uncovering dangerous narcotics. He conducted many tracks and drug searches during his time with the Sheriff’s Office.” said Sheriff Bouchard in a press release. “He was an exceptional Deputy and his presence will be missed by our agency."
The sheriff's office notes that in 2013, the K-9 Unit responded to 1,938 requests for police service throughout Oakland County.
