Oakland County warns against the Lollipipe

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - A warning in Oakland County for a candy pipe that comes in 8 delicious flavors.

It's called the Lollipipe.

Similar to the nostalgic cigarette candies, these pipes resemble those used by the drug trade to smoke illegal narcotics. But, unlike those old time cigarette candies, these pipes could actually be used to smoke illicit drugs.

The Lollipipe itself  is not illegal. But can be, if used with drugs.

They're attractive and available in watermelon, strawberry, blue raspberry, grape, peach, cherry, blueberry , and green apple.

They have a plastic tube with a convenient nonstick cigar band for easier handling. They won't melt if they are lit. And, they can be used over again, if smoked. All for just $5.99.

The fear of Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is that these pipes are just too appealing to kids. As a result, he has demanded that local stores remove them from shelves.

He wants parents and the community at large to be alert to these "candies."

He's asking if you see them, contact the county health department at: 248-858-8745.

Patterson says, "My goal is to improve the quality of life in Oakland County by residents living a healthier lifestyle. Ensuring that ‘Lollipipes' are not on Oakland County store shelves is part of that plan."
