The boil water advisory is hurting some local businesses who are struggling to pay their bills because less customers are stopping by.

Many restaurants had to make a tough decision to stay open or close during the boil water advisory that has lasted six days and counting. The owner of The Souper Bowl in Farmington Hills, at 14 Mile and Northwestern, says staying open is not a risk he's willing to take.

"Get it done, ASAP, because it's taking it's toll..." Tony Hermiz said.

"How are you going to wash your dishes.. all it takes is one time.. then you're going to shut down forever," Hermiz said.

It's been nearly a week since more than 300,000 people in Oakland County were instructed to boil their drinking water. We're told many have decided not to bathe in it. Hospitals, schools and businesses were forced to close after losing water pressure.

Health officials warned of bacteria-infested water flowing into homes and businesses as crews fix the water main.

Hermiz said he hopes this nightmare ends soon.

"I would rather lose now, get back up and running. Keeping our fingers crossed," he said.

Officials say the boil water advisory could be lifted as soon as tomorrow, when water testing results are expected to be released.
