“Thank you is not big enough,” she says about the community’s support. “I don’t feel thank you is a big enough way to thank this community for what they have done.”

Her 14-year-old daughter April’s body was found along a local jogging trail a few weeks ago. Her killer has yet to be caught. The murder has rocked the small village of Armada.

Jennifer described April as a “Generous, kind, caring, beautiful little girl.”

She continued, “She loved helping people---anyone who needed her she was there.”

Jennifer described a normal mother daughter relationship. But says as the teen years approached, “Once junior high {came around} the friends became more important,” she said with a chuckle.

She says she wants people to remember April for, “Just how warm she was and how caring she was.”

Many want to know how Jennifer is holding up.

“I’m doing the best I can. I am trying—it’s hard--I have my days--it hurts.”

Jennifer introduced 7 Action News to April’s dog Penny. Penny was with April on the trail when she was murdered.

“Penny loved April,” Jennifer said. “Whenever April came out of her room in the morning--she was there.”

As for the murder of her daughter, Jennifer chokes up. “I just want to know why. I want to know who.”

She continues, “What could a 14-year-old girl do so bad that it cost her life?”
