WXYZ Editorial: Detroit 2020, Making a difference for Southeast Michigan

WXYZ Detroit - Unify, Inspire and Act!  That’s our motto and goal for Detroit 2020.  As you know, we at Channel 7 have made a long term commitment to address the challenges facing the Southeast Michigan region.  Working side by side with the residents of our communities, we will listen, talk and take action!   For three years now, you’ve seen us “walk the talk” through more than 450 D2020 stories.   And, to be perfectly honest, we’re just getting warmed up!

Recently, we hosted our third annual Detroit 2020 Awards Luncheon to celebrate some unsung heroes of Detroit.  Their personal stories will truly inspire you.  We congratulate Unify Winner, Bishop William Murphy; Inspire Winner, Quanna Fish; and Act Winner, Reverend Alonzo Bell.  We also tip our hat to all of the D2020 Award finalists.  They are taking action where they can make a difference; one person and one community at a time.

We invite you to watch our D2020 Award special of these courageous and uplifting warriors of our community.  During the broadcast you will be energized by Detroit’s top cop, Chief James Craig.

And you will definitely smile and be proud when you hear the songs and rap of the phenomenal Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences Choir.

Working together, we are determined to lead the charge for making Southeast Michigan the best region in the nation.  And at Channel 7, we not only want to be the best media organization in Detroit, we want to be the best media organization for Detroit.

I’m Mike Murri, Station Manager

Broadcast: April 17 - 20
