DETROIT (WXYZ) - It happened with Cobo Center. Could the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department be next?
A private meeting was held today between Detroit City officials and the three metro Detroit counties to consider turning the water department into a regional authority.
7 Action News was not allowed in, but the two hour session included the city's consultants, Conway MacKenzie and Miller Buckfire with a 10-year plan and officials from Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties.
The counties have also hired consultants to crunch the numbers.
The savings to Detroit could be $40 million to $100 million according to Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr.
