Hazel Park residents may soon be able to get a good workout in at the park.

The city is expected to reveal the plans for the Hazel Park Family Fitness Park at the city's Memorial homecoming festival this weekend.

The idea is to install outdoor exercise equipment within Green Acres Park on Woodward Heights.

The new area will be dedicated to the memory of Richard and Lorraine Truba, two longtime community activists and humanitarians.

More than $20,000 has been raised by family and about $7,000 is still needed from the community to complete the project. The park, if fully funded, is scheduled to open by late summer.

Anyone interested in donating to the park, can send a check addressed to "Richard and Lorraine Truba Recreation Fund" to the City of Hazel Park at 111 E. 9 Mile Road.
