Clinton Township, Mich (WXYZ) - The search continues for three suspects involved in a fatal party store robbery in Clinton Township.
Police say they have not made an arrest in the case, and that they are still searching for the suspects.
51-year-old Basim Sulaka, the store owner was the man killed in last night's robbery. We have also learned that he has owned the store since 1996, and just recovered from cancer.
Police say the crime happened at around 11 p.m. Friday at the Moon Lite party store located on Harper, just north of 14 mile. Investigators say the three masked men entered the business then subsequently shot and killed the clerk during the robbery.
We're told the owner was loved and respected by customers. They say he was the kind of owner where if you didn't have enough money for something, he would let you take it and come back later to pay. The store was a place where people would come in the morning and have coffee and donuts with the owner.
A large group of people gathered Saturday afternoon and late into Saturday night to pay their respects to Sulaka and his family. By night time, candles and a memorial was laid out in front of the party store.
All three suspects got away, but police are hoping someone may be able to identify them from surveillance photos. Anyone with information is asked to call the Clinton Township Police Department at (586) 493-7802 or Crime Stoppers. You may remain anonymous if you like.
Multiple agencies contributed money to a reward in the murder of Sulaka, and it now totals around $17,000.
