Troy Police are still searching for the killer of a gas station clerk from over the weekend.
Police have identified the clerk as 63-year-old Athir Putres of Rochester Hills. His family declined to talk with 7 Action News and have not made funeral arrangements.
Putres was shot once in the head sometime late morning or early afternoon Saturday at the Clark Gas Station at Rochester Road and South Boulevard.
Two teens found him on the floor behind the counter. It is an older, smaller store with no bullet proof glass between the clerk and customers.
Over the weekend, police said it appeared nothing had been taken from the small store at the gas station.
But Sgt. Andy Breidenich of the Troy Police Department today said, "At this point it was premature to say nothing was missing because we don't know for sure. So we don't know if it was a robbery, or a personal vendetta or an act or passion."
Police are looking at surveillance video from nearby businesses and the gas station but have found nothing conclusive.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything on Saturday to come forward.
"It was a busy time of day, not the usual for something like this occurring. a busy intersection between 12:30 and 1:30 in the afternoon on Saturday. we believe there's a lot of people out there that may have information", Sgt. Breidenich said.
The phone number for Troy Police is 248-524-0777. People with information can also call Crimestoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
Troy had no murders in 2013 and two in 2012, both of which were domestic issues.
