WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Warren police say two young sisters escaped from a stranger who was reportedly chasing them near 9 Mile Road and Dequindre. The sisters were walking to the store.
"I thought we were gonna get kidnapped," says 11-year-old Alexis.
"I was scared," says 8-year-old Shanna.
On Sunday around 8:00 p.m., both girls were walking to the gas station that's just a few blocks from their home.
That's when they noticed a stranger.
"We looked back and he started following us and we started running and then he started running faster after us," says Alexis.
If that wasn't scary enough, the girls say the man caught up to them and grabbed Shanna's hoodie, but Alexis fought back.
"I thought he was going to take off with her and run off with her," she says.
"I punched him in the neck," she says.
The girls ran into the gas station. Police say the pair can be seen on surveillance video running inside and asking the clerk for help. He called 911.
Dispatcher: What's your emergency?
Caller: I need Warren PD. Some little sisters walked in said there was a man chasing them. They already called their parents and they're on the way.
Their mom says the girls will no longer be allowed to walk anywhere without an adult... even when it is light
She says the girls always protect each other, but now their bond is stronger than ever.
Police are still looking for the man who went after the girls.
