VIDEO: Mike Duggan addresses supporters after projected primary win

(WXYZ) - Detroit mayoral candidate Mike Duggan addressed his supporters on Tuesday night after his projected primary win.

"What a difference six weeks makes. Six weeks ago I was out of this campaign and I really did think it was over. You know once in a while you have a campaign where the candidate really inspires and motivates supporters. This is the rarest of all campaigns. This is the campaign where the volunteers motivated and inspired the candidate," said Duggan.

Duggan took 46.4 percent of the vote with 44,395 people writing "Mike Duggan" on their ballot. The former Detroit Medical Center CEO says he's ready to help to get Detroit back on its feet.

"It does not matter if you are black, brown or white. It does not matter if you are Christian, Jewish or Muslim. It does not matter if you are gay or straight. It does not matter if you are born in the city of Detroit or if you are an immigrant from another country-- all of us are sharing a dream to rebuild this city together. "
