We're just over seven months into the presidency of Donald Trump, but a new poll found 64 percent of people in Michigan are "embarrassed" by the president.

The NBC News/Marist poll also found the 36 percent of people in Michigan approve of his work while 55 percent disapprove. 28 percent say they are "proud" of the president.

The polls were conducted August 13-17, which is after the violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va.

Of the 36 percent and 55 percent who approve and disapprove of Trump, 19 percent strongly approve and 40 percent strongly disapprove, according to the poll.

Michigan was a key state that propelled Trump to the presidency, flipping the state from Democrat to Republican for the first time since 1988.

When it comes to the economy, the poll found that Michiganders think the economy is doing better under Trump from a 42-to-39 percent margin.
