Power outages causing problems for first day of school

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Power outages have him some communities worse than others, and in Madison Heights, about 2,300 people are without power.

The outages are also bad timing for school scheduled to start Tuesday.

Rob Borngesser is with Lamphere Public Schools in Madison Heights. He's spending Labor Day making sure everything is working when kids finally get to school.

"I was just checking out a couple schools, Paige Middle School and Simons back here and they both have power," Borngesser said.

Luckily, power is expected to be restored for most people between 5:30 and 7:30 a.m.
