Hearing postponed for three suspects charged in carjacking of Reverend Winans

DETROIT (AP) - Three men charged in the assault and carjacking of popular Detroit pastor and gospel singing icon Marvin Winans appeared in court today, but their preliminary hearing was adjourned.

Twenty-year-old Detroit residents Montoya Givens and Christopher Moorehead and 18-year-old Brian K. Young of Clinton Township are charged with carjacking, unarmed robbery and conspiracy.

The charges carry up to life in prison.

Winans was attacked May 16 while pumping gas. The robbers took his SUV, watch and cash.

The 54-year-old sustained bruises and scrapes.

He's the pastor of the Perfecting Church and delivered singer Whitney Houston's eulogy in February.

The suspects' preliminary hearing has now been scheduled for June 11th.
