Detroit police are investigating after a 4-year-old boy was shot Saturday afternoon on the city's west side.
We're told the shooting happened in the 18300 block of Monica, which is just west of Livernois and south of 7 Mile Rd.
Police say a 24-year-old father was shot and killed. The child was shot in the leg and is in temporary serious condition.
According to police, two men wearing ski masks got out of a gray Chevy equinox and pointed their guns at a 4 year-old-before turning their weapons to the father.
This is the third shooting of a child in the city in less than a month. On Easter, a 3-year-old girl was shot and killed, and last weekend, a 6-month-old girl was shot and killed.
In all, there were five people shot on Saturday in different shootings. Another person was killed and two other adults were shot and injured in three different shootings.
