DETROIT, Mich. (WXYZ) - A father of four was killed in an accident on the freeway and now his family needs help with funeral expenses.
"I just couldn't believe it, I still don't want to believe it," said Mildred Turner through tears when she spoke about the freeway accident that took the life of her 37-year-old son Bobby Turner.
"He was the best guy, always talking about his family, he was so loved," said his wife Shonetta.
The family is understandably heartbroken.
It happened in the early morning hours last Saturday on I-94 near Mt. Elliott and the initial accident was pretty minor.
An off duty police officer and another good Samaritan stopped to help, but a third car approached and spun out of control on the icy freeway, hitting all of them. The officer and good Samaritan suffered non-life threatening injuries, but Bobby's injuries were fatal.
Bobby, who is a father of four, had been working part-time as a machine operator, his wife has a part-time office job, they have no insurance and the family has no money for a funeral.
Bobby's family plans to put up posters in Bobby's old neighborhood to ask friends if they could possibly help. The family has now set up a Memorial Fund for Bobby K Turner at any Fifth Third Bank. Also the funeral will be on January 18th at the Swanson Funeral Home at 11am. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 17th from 3pm until 9pm.
