AT&T reports service returned after outage affected metro Detroit customers

DETROIT (WXYZ) - AT&T reports service has returned to their mobile device customers after an outage that affected metro Detroit Monday morning.

Beginning at 8 a.m. many customers were unable to make or receive phone calls; outgoing calls won't connect while incoming calls are sent straight to voicemail.

Data and text messages however were still functioning properly.

At 11 a.m. a spokesperson from AT&T said  "AT&T customers in metro Detroit, and those located in Monroe, Washtenaw, Genesee, Livingston, St. Clair, Lapeer counties, may have experienced temporary loss of wireless service earlier today. The issue, which did not affect texting or data services, has been resolved and calls are processing normally. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

AT&T did not report what caused the outage or how many customers were affected.
