DETROIT (WXYZ) - Last week, metal band Metallica announced they will bring their Orion Music + More festival to Detroit in 2013. It now looks like Belle Isle, the city's island park, could be the venue.
When Detroit's city council returns on January 8, a committee is set to discuss a request to use Belle Isle as the sight of the festival.
According to the council agenda, Mayor Dave Bing's office recommends approval of the plan that would hold festival organizers responsible for reimbursing the Detroit Police Department.
On the festival's website, the band announced last week that they would be in Detroit on June 8 and 9, 2013. No venue was announced at the time.
Metallica would play the weekend festival in addition to a number of other bands.
The first Orion festival took place this past June in Atlantic City.
"Stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for updates on the lineup + tickets in February," the website says.
The 2012 event also included a car show where hotrods, motorcycles, classic cars and custom rides were exhibited.
