(WXYZ) - What started as a small car fire blew up into an inferno – huge flames shoot into the sky as four cars caught on fire.
Firefighters raced to an apartment building parking lot in Detroit after getting the 911 call – but their equipment froze. It would take a while to knock the flames down.
The bitter cold temps put the city and the metro area in the deep freeze--thankfully Detroiters are stepping up and helping those in need.
Andy Didorosi with the start-up Detroit Bus Company came with his coworkers to a warming center near midtown to cook up some delicious food.
Also pitching in, Detroit Councilwoman Saunteel Jenkins – a social worker before entering politics – she headed to the store after work tonight and bought a bunch of blankets to pass out to those in need.
