Detroit City Council will honor Chrysler for Super Bowl commercial

DETROIT, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Detroit City Council will honor the Chrysler Brand marketing team at the formal session at 10 a.m. on Tuesday for the memorable Chrysler Super Bowl XLV commercial.

Detroit City Councilman, Andre L. Spivey, will present an award to Olivier Francois, President and CEO, of the Chrysler Brand.

The commercial first aired on February 6, 2011, during the Super Bowl XLV. The two minute ad introduced the new Chrysler 200 and featured Detroit rapper Eminem. The commercial is the longest Super Bowl ad in history.

The ad was a huge hit in the Detroit area. It featured a video tour through the city of Detroit. The ad concluded with the reveal of Eminem exiting the new Chrysler 200 and using Chrysler’s new tag line, “Imported from Detroit”.

“It is our duty as a Council to acknowledge those who make it a priority to uplift Detroit.” said Andre L. Spivey.

“Chrysler has helped to paint a positive portrayal of our beloved city on a national level by filming the entire commercial inside the City of Detroit, and showcasing all of our great landmarks. We want to show our appreciation by giving them a Testimonial Resolution," said Spivey.
