Fatal shooting shuts down Cinco de Mayo parade in southwest Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) - A shooting at the Cinco de Mayo parade in southwest Detroit has police immediately cancelling the parade.

7 Action News has learned one person has died in the shooting. The victim is believed to be between the ages of 16 and 19 years old.

The shooting happened right in the middle of the intersection at Vernor Highway and Ferdinand.

Police have one person in custody and are on scene investigating the shooting. They believe there is a gang connection in the shooting.
