DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit residents will get their first chance to weigh in on Mayor Dave Bing's new restructuring plan today.
The mayor will host two community meetings this week after announcing his plan Friday.
Under the restructuring plan 400 to 500 city employees will be laid off in the new year, roughly 5 percent of the workforce, one of many steps to try to straighten poor public finances, officials said Friday.
The first is Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Greater Apostolic Faith Temple on West Fort Street. The second is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Noble Elementary School on Detroit's west side.
These are the 7th and 8th meetings to be held as mandated by the 2012 Detroit City Chamber.
