DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police say they've closed an investigation into a homicide cold case from 1987.
A news conference to announce details is planned for Wednesday afternoon. Police say the case involves more than one killing, but declined to release details until the news conference.
The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell reports the case is the double homicide of 62-year-old Joseph Charles Ayres and his 65-year-old wife, Winifred. They were stabbed to death at their home in an apparent robbery attempt. Some of their relatives live in Livingston County.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office confirmed Wednesday morning to The Associated Press that the case involved was the couple's slaying.
Police Chief Ralph Godbee was expected to be on hand for the news conference along with relatives of the victims.
