DETROIT (WXYZ) - A 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman have been charged in connection with the death of a 1-year-old infant, who was found with burns.
Sandford McQueen and Karen Marie Geletzke have been charged with Second Degree Murder, Involuntary Murder and Child Abuse Second Degree. They are both being held in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
Police say officers were called to a home in the 19300 block of Keating on January 23 shortly after 1:00 pm because of an infant that was not breathing.
Officers found the child to be unresponsive and suffering from burns. The baby was taken to the hospital where the boy was pronounced dead. The death has been ruled a homicide.
An investigation has determined that the baby was left in the care of McQueen and Geletzke by his mother, McQueen's sister. Police say he was placed in a stroller and covered with a blanket near a space heater.
Officers say the house had no heat or running water.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 16
