DETROIT (WXYZ) - Dash cam video from a police cruiser captured the moments leading up to the tragic crash that took the lives of three teens.
According to police, 17-year-old Charles Miller, 14-year-old Cynthia Elizarras, and 15-year-old Suhelia Alvarez were in the a white Jeep Grand Cherokee on April 20 leaving a party.
Around 1 a.m., officers said they spotted the vehicle, believed to have been stolen, on Campbell in southwest Detroit.
While driving on Campbell, the SUV plunged down an embankment onto I-75 where it crashed.
A vigil was held for the teens in April. They were loved by many in their neighborhood.
A makeshift memorial was placed where the accident started.
According to police, they are not calling the incident a chase. They said the SUV was too far ahead of the police car.
