Not many people would think much of Sequoya Vance's gold iPhone 6 with the cracked glass, but what is on the phone means the world to Vance.

In 2014, Vance's mother, veteran Detroit Police Officer Anna Hamilton, was killed by her husband who then took his own life.

Sunday around 6:00 p.m. in Westland, Vance was shopping at the Big Lots on Ford Road with her three-year-old son and two nieces.

When she got to her car, she realized that her phone, that had been sitting in an open compartment of her crossbody purse, was missing.

Vance went back to use the store phone to call her phone. It went straight to voicemail, leading her to believe that it had been swiped out of her purse.

Vance says there was a custom case on the phone that showed a picture of her and her young son. And when the home button is hit, a picture of her mom pops up.

She's just hoping anyone who has the phone will drop it off at the Westland Police Department.

Vance says surveillance video does not show everywhere she went in the store.

And, unfortunately, her phone was not properly backed up to the cloud.
