(WXYZ) - Detroit City Council Committee will take public comments on the future of Belle Isle today at 1:30 p.m.
The "Neighborhood and Community Service" standing committee is meeting this afternoon to discuss a looming deal with the state.
If approved, the proposed 30-year deal will convert Belle Isle into a state park. The city would have an option to opt out of the deal after each decade.
Under the deal, the state would foot the $6 million bill for Belle Isle's annual operating costs.
Today's meeting will be held in the city council's chambers and a public hearing on the issue is set for Monday at 2 p.m.
A vote on the proposed Belle Isle deal is expected to come Tuesday.
