It was a close call for a Detroit firefighter overnight when a wire fell atop a fire truck.
DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit firefighters had a close call on Christmas night when an electrical wire fell on one of their trucks.
Crews responded to a fire on Boston, near Dexter, Wednesday night. It was around 10:30 p.m. and fire and smoke were pouring out of the building.
But as crews worked to rescue the apartment residents, they soon learned one of their own was in trouble.
The fire had seared off a power line, dropping the live wire on top of a firetruck with a firefighter inside.
DTE Energy responded to the scene. Power crews cut electricity going to the wire and the emergency worker was able to exit the truck safely.
Meanwhile, Detroit fire crews battled the flames and got everyone out of building uninjured.
