The city is showing off 24 empty homes on Detroit's east side as part of an ongoing online auction of houses to help stabilize neighborhoods.
Open houses will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday for 10 homes in the Morningside neighborhood and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday for 14 houses in East English Village. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. both days. Bus tours of the neighborhoods start at 1 p.m.
The houses are owned by the Detroit Land Bank. The city is trying to eradicate blight and wants to sell the houses to people willing to quickly fix them up. Three houses in East English Village are being put back up for auction because previous bidders were found to be ineligible.
