(WXYZ) - Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr held a news conference Thursday evening to address the Detroit bankruptcy filing.
Mayor Bing said it's not something that anyone wanted.
"Now that we're here, we have to make the best of it," Mayor Bing said.
Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr says Detroiters will continue to receive the necessary services.
"Nothing changes from the standpoint of the average citizen's perspective," said Orr. The EM says they have a timetable on bankruptcy.
"We are targeting to get through this late summer or fall of next year," Orr said.
Bing and Orr both made a point of saying that things are going well in Downtown and Midtown, but the city's success relies on improvement and the ability to deliver services in the rest of Detroit's neighborhoods as well.
