Detroit music store owner opens fire on suspected robbers

(WXYZ) - Editor's note: Detroit Police originally told 7 Action News that the store owner was attacked by four men wielding crowbars and bricks when he opened fire on one of the victims. We're now being told that information is incorrect.

Detroit Police say shots were fired at a music store on the city's west side.

We're told several men smashed out a window of Dj's R US on Fenkell Street near Appoline. One of the suspects began to lift up his shirt, making the owner think that he may have a gun. Police say the owner then opened fire on the men, striking one in the head.

Police say that man later died at the hospital.

The owner has been detained by police.
