Charles H. Wright Museum to host Paradise Valley cool jazz event

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Jazz greats Great Ronnie Laws and Tom "Funk'in for Jamaica " Brown will perform at concerts to celebrate the world premiere of the short documentary, "The Rebirth of Detroit Paradise Valley "

The event will take place November 24, 2012 at the Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit. Doors will open at 4 p.m. Shows are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and both will feature the showing of the documentary " The Rebirth of Paradise Valley ."

Paradise Valley (formerly known as Harmonie Park) has one of the richest histories in the world.  During its day, Paradise Valley offered 66 blocks where African Americans lived,  worked and played. Among the many acts to perform in nightclubs there included Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Sammy Davis JR,  and Josephine Baker.
