DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Police now tell 7 Action News that during a routine sweep of Ford Field ahead of Saturday night's Taylor Swift concert, a bomb-sniffing dog hit on a suspicious scent.
A second dog was called in and the Detroit Police Bomb Squad entered Ford Field. It was determined that the "hit" may have been from residue from pyrotechnics that would be used during the concert.
At the same time as this development, a training exercise was under way at Comerica Park and was not related.
Detroit Police originally reported that there was some type of threat near Comerica Park and Ford Field.
No suspicious packages have been found and the area is safe.
7 Action News was not previously informed that there would be a training drill near either of the venues.
Taylor Swift is scheduled to perform at Ford Field on Saturday.
