Detroit police hosting gun buy-back program on Thursday

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit Police Department is teaming up with area Roman Catholic Churches to host a gun buy-back program on Thursday, August 30.

Police say residents will be allowed to turn in unloaded weapons with a no-questions-ask policy. Up to $50 will be paid for an operational firearm, according to a news release.

The program will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at st. Cecilia Catholic Church in Detroit.
