Detroit (WXYZ) - Right now a 72-year-old woman is in the hospital recovering from a violent attack. Police tell 7 Action News the woman was shot 3 times, but it looks like she will survive. Doctors say she is in temporary serious condition
It happened around 5 a.m. at the woman's home on Sussex on Detroit's West Side. Police say a man forced his way into her home, shot her, and tried to rob her.
""I'm upset," said her neighbor Mary Currie. "I'm nervous, and I'm very disgusted
When Currie woke up to find a police scene outside her home, she noticed something that police also saw right away.
"I saw these footprints going from that yard to my neighbors, and there aren't usually footprints there," said Currie.
Police followed those footprints, hoping to find the person responsible for the brutal attack. They led them to a vacant house. There they found a 23-year-old man with a gun hiding. Now he is under arrest.
