DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Police have arrested five suspects in a carjacking spree that led to an accident early Wednesday morning.
Around 5:30 a.m. a 1998 Cadillac was stolen at a gas station on the 18300 block of Morang.
The victim reported two men had approached him with a gun and left the scene.
The car wreck unfolded at Hayes and Glenwood on the city’s east side. It is not known how the accident happened.
Shortly thereafter, the Cadillac was dumped for a 2001 teal blue PT Cruiser from 7 Mile and Chalmers.
Lastly, a black Jeep Liberty vehicle was taken from another gas station, this time located at 7 Mile and Hayes.
According to Police Chief James Craig, the series of carjackings started the night before at 9:45 on East Warren.
It took a matter of hours for officers including DPD’s Special Response Team to make the arrests which took place a couple of houses down the street from where the Cadillac crashed Wednesday.
