(WXYZ) - Time has not been kind to the Eastown Theatre on Harper Avenue in Detroit. The windows are gone, the doors have been stripped and a fire gutted part of the building in 2010.
Through the years, the theater was the backdrop for a variety of big name music acts. Now, its blight is the big attraction.
Recently, the crumbling theater served as the setting for the rock band Linkin Park's music video "Lost in the Echo."
Now, the building is in such a state of disrepair, it has become dangerous. Scrappers took anything of value, including support beams. The roof is partially exposed. Some people in the neighborhood say it's time to put history aside and demolish the building.
A spokesperson for Mayor Mike Duggan's office tells Action News, a crew will be out to fence it off and clear away debris from sidewalks.
