Firefighter suffers neck injury after home firebombed on Detroit's west side

DETROIT (WXYZ) - A home was fire-bombed overnight, injuring a firefighter. He injured his neck and shoulder falling down the stairs.

Several people were inside the home, including kids. The home is on Virgil Street, near Telegraph.

Police are telling us someone threw a molotov cocktail on the porch, which caused some damage to the front door.

A fire didn't ignite right away, but the home re-kindled shortly after; that's what brought fire crews back to the scene.

We're also learning a Detroit firefighter suffered a neck injury on the call. He was taken to Sinai-Grace Hospital.

Right now, we're not sure how severe his injury is.

All the people inside the home were able to get out safely. The case is still under investigation.
