Neighbors pull four kids from burning Detroit home, grandmother jumps from window

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Five people have been hurt in a fire on Detroit's east side.

It happened at Desner and Dwyer, near McNichols and Mound.

Four children are among the injured. Two of them suffered severe burns. The two others are being treated for smoke inhalation.

The fifth person is described as their grandmother. She reportedly suffered a broken leg after jumping out a window.

All five of them were taken to the hospital.

Neighbors are telling 7 Action News that they helped rescue the kids, who were inside the home when the fire broke out. They are also telling us the family was using space heaters.

The house was badly damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
