DETROIT (AP) - An online effort to raise $50,000 for additional security at Detroit's Heidelberg Project following a series of fires has exceeded its goal.
The outdoor art installation has been the target of at least eight suspicious fires. As of Thursday morning, more than $51,000 had been pledged.
There have been no arrests related to the fires dating back to May, but local and federal officials are investigating. Tyree Guyton founded the east-side project in 1986 as a response to urban decay.
