DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit police are now confirming the Mayor of Highland Park, Deandre Windom, was shot early Sunday morning at a night club in Detroit.
It happened just before 2:00 a.m. at the Key Club on Franklin.
Police tell 7 Action News, bouncers were in the process of clearing crowds from the club when someone started shooting.
Mayor Windom was hit, but police do not believe he was targeted.
No one else was shot.
Mayor Windom was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital in stable condition.
Highland Park officials say Windom was hit in the thigh. He is reportedly in good spirits.
Police say bouncers were able to detain a suspect until police arrived. He remains in custody.
