DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Police are asking for your help finding the driver who hit two women, killing one of them.
It happened on the city's eastside just after 11:00 p.m. Friday. Witnesses say two adult Hispanic women were crossing 7 mile when they were hit. Investigators say it looks like the driver never even braked before speeding up to get away and making a quick turn northbound on Prevost.
"It was horrible," said Frank Williams, who witnessed the scene. "Everybody was frantic. People were crying."
Police are not yet releasing the victims' identities, because they are waiting for family members to be notified. The woman killed was in her fifties. The second woman hit was in her forties and suffered critical injuries.
"Somebody, anybody, give us a little help please," said Officer Patricia Crawford for the Detroit Police Fatal Squad Unit.
Officer Crawford says few people have come forward to help Detroit Police identify the driver. The crash happened on a well-lit busy street.
"Somebody saw something. Even if you don't realize you saw something important, if you saw anything give us a call."
Surveillance pictures recorded by a camera outside The Lounge, where the woman had just left, show the car involved in the crash. It is a light colored 1994-1999 Buick, with a dark door. It should have noticeable damage from the crash.
