Hundreds of Detroiters expected to attend Obamacare Enrollment Fairs

DETROIT (WXYZ) - 5000 Detroit residents are expected to come out to Northwest Activity Center on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

It's estimated that 790,000 people in Michigan have no health coverage according to the Michigan Household Survey on Health Insurance. A large part of the uninsured population resides in the city of Detroit. According to the survey, lack of affordable health insurance rates are the number one reason people are going without coverage.

Under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, Michigan residents will be offered reasonably-priced health insurance. This new legislation will ensure that everyone is covered and has access to preventive care like mammograms, cholesterol testing, dental and vision.

From October 16-18, 2013 Detroiters will have the chance to sign up for affordable health insurance at three sites across the city. The enrollment fair is being hosted by Obamacare Team Enrollment and will make signing up for health insurance easy.
